RainbowStats™ · Data commands

EIA

Load an EIA series using an exact provider code.

Syntax

S=EIA(providerCode)

Runnable example

S=EIA(PET.MCRSTUS1.M)
EXTRACT(S,"summary")

Discover first, then load

Use EIA_SEARCH(source,topic) to obtain actual provider codes, then copy the exact code into EIA. Codes are passed as raw text through the EIA integration, not evaluated as an expression or looked up in FRED. Preserve periods, underscores, hyphens and case. Do not manufacture a new frequency or geographic code by editing an existing one.

Verified oil-data examples

CodeSeries definition
PET.MCRFPUS2.MMonthly US crude oil field production; thousand barrels per day.
PET.F000000__3.MMonthly US crude oil first-purchase price; dollars per barrel. Preserve both underscores.
PET.MCRSTUS1.MMonthly total US crude oil ending stocks; thousand barrels, including the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
INTL.57-1-WORL-TBPD.MMonthly world crude oil production including lease condensate; thousand barrels per day.

These examples were checked in the oil-market comparison. Future coverage and revisions follow the provider. A .W weekly series is not interchangeable with a .M monthly series.

Check the loaded series

Inspect EXTRACT(S,"summary") for observation dates, counts, frequency and units. Read the provider definition as well: a short series label may omit important coverage details. Check whether stocks include strategic reserves, whether production includes condensate, and whether a flow is a daily rate or a period total.

Do not divide inventory changes in barrels by production in barrels per day and describe the result as a dimensionless fraction without a consistent period conversion. Use the actual units exposed by the series and RainbowStats arithmetic; do not add guessed scale factors.

The loader does not automatically turn nominal prices into real prices, seasonally adjust observations or create a constructed global inventory measure. US first-purchase prices and US stocks are not the paper's global price and inventory data; label any proxy substitution.

Return and errors

A valid time-series code normally returns a series; provider-specific results and errors follow the integration. Confirm a usable result before passing it to a model. Missing command-level extract metadata does not mean that an ordinary returned series lacks standard series extracts.
