RainbowStats is designed to analyze economic and financial data without requiring a RainbowStats user account. We collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and support the website and the RainbowStats plugin.
This Privacy Policy explains how RainbowStats, operated by Bill Igoe ("RainbowStats," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use rainbowstats.com, contact us, or use the RainbowStats plugin through ChatGPT, Codex, or another compatible Model Context Protocol ("MCP") client (collectively, the "Services").
1. Information we process
Information sent to RainbowStats through a plugin or MCP client
When you ask a client such as ChatGPT to use RainbowStats, the client sends the specific tool input required to fulfill that request. Depending on the request, this may include data-series identifiers, RainbowStats scripts, analytical parameters, date ranges, chart settings, and a task-specific portion of your prompt. RainbowStats does not request or reconstruct your complete chat history.
Information you provide directly
If you use our contact page, we process the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, subject, message, and any attachments or other details you include. Please do not submit passwords, API keys, payment-card data, government identifiers, protected health information, or other sensitive personal information.
Technical and operational information
Our hosting and application systems may automatically record limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the Services. This may include IP address, browser or client type, request time, requested endpoint or tool, response status, performance information, and error details. We use this information for security, abuse prevention, capacity management, and troubleshooting—not for advertising or behavioral profiling.
RainbowStats does not intentionally retain user prompts, analysis scripts, results, or user profiles. RainbowStats is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which may automatically process transient technical telemetry—such as IP addresses, user agents, request paths, timestamps, response status, and execution time—to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. RainbowStats does not use this telemetry for advertising, behavioral profiling, or sale to third parties.
Browser storage
RainbowStats pages may use essential browser storage, such as local storage, to preserve settings, scenarios, or interface preferences on your device. You can clear this information through your browser controls. We do not use the Services to serve third-party behavioral advertising.
2. How we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- process scripts and analytical requests and return data, statistics, and charts;
- retrieve requested information from public and licensed third-party data sources;
- operate, maintain, secure, diagnose, and improve the Services;
- detect abuse, excessive automated traffic, attacks, and technical failures;
- respond to support questions and other communications; and
- comply with applicable law and protect users, RainbowStats, and others.
3. When information is disclosed
We may disclose limited information to the following categories of recipients:
- Infrastructure and service providers. Hosting, security, email, and technical-service providers may process information for us under their own contractual and security obligations.
- Data providers. When necessary to answer a request, RainbowStats may send a requested series identifier or query parameter to an external economic, government, financial, or market-data provider. We do not intentionally send your identity or complete prompt with these requests.
- The client you use. ChatGPT, Codex, or another MCP client processes information under its own terms and privacy practices before sending a tool request and after receiving the result. RainbowStats does not control the client's data practices.
- Legal and safety recipients. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Services.
RainbowStats does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Retention

5. Your choices and controls
- You can choose what information to include in a RainbowStats request.
- You can stop using or uninstall the plugin through the client that installed it.
- You can clear RainbowStats browser storage through your browser settings.
- You may contact us to request access to or deletion of personal information that RainbowStats maintains about you. We may need to verify your request, and some information may be retained where required by law or needed for security.
6. Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect the information we process, including HTTPS transport and access controls appropriate to the nature of the Services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International use
RainbowStats is operated in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, information may be processed in the United States or other places where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to RainbowStats, please contact us so we can address it.
9. Third-party websites and services
The Services may link to or rely on third-party websites, data sources, and clients. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. This Privacy Policy applies only to information processed by RainbowStats.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise required by law.
